The finishing of Inox

At SNL Machine Construction we specialise in the area of Inox. Every day, we work with stainless steel and thus know this material like no one else does. That is how we, at SNL Machine Construction, know that an Inox product only has supreme quality if it has undergone the right finishing.

Inox finishing represents the finishing of stainless steel. The finishing can be done in two different ways: a straight line finish or a graankorrelfinish[WX1] . Finishing Inox makes further processing, like painting, easier. By finishing the Inox, it is given a truly great result. At SNL Machine Construction we apply different types of Inox finishing:

  • Staining
  • Glass bead blasting
  • Barrel finishing
  • Steel ball polishing

Staining Inox

Inox is being protected by a layer of chromium oxide. By exposing the material to different treatments (e.g. sawing, cutting, milling or welding) this protection layer gets damaged. We can, as such, process Inox by staining it, creating another chromium oxide layer. This way, rust won’t be given a chance!

Glass bead blasting

In order to give stainless steel products a finishing touch, we recommend glass bead blasting. To guarantee the quality of glass bead blasting, this is done in-house. This way we can eliminate any contamination with steel. Obviously, the floor and plinths of this blasting cabin are made entirely of Inox. In the blasting hall, which has a steel construction with hoisting possibilities, the products can easily be relocated and taken up.

Barrel finishing

Processed Inox often has sharp edges. Removing this roughness is called deburring. One way of deburring is to apply barrel finishing. The Inox product is smoothed by placing it in the barrel finishing machine. This surface treatment is done in-house at SNL Machine Construction.

Steel ball polishing

Steel ball polishing is an after-treatment that is gaining popularity. Steel ball polishing is a quick way to provide the surfaces of aluminium or Inox with a nice gloss finish. The Steel ball polishing machine, filled with Inox balls, makes use of water and a special compound. As material will become glossy after the steel ball polishing, this is the perfect treatment for surface parts (that will be seen). With the Walther Trowal TFM we can perform steel ball polishing using the previously mentioned Inox balls. This treatment ensures a beautiful and glossy surface. In addition to the great gloss, steel ball polishing also ensures a surface compaction, which increases the corrosion-resistance. The surface becomes denser as well as harder. Steel ball polishing is used for various parts. These could be stainless steel parts for machines from the food industry or medical instruments. We will be happy to support you in sorting out the possibilities.
